Fighting High Publishing News - March 2012

2012 looks like it is going to be another exciting year for Fighting High with some terrific books and events planned. The reviews of the books we published last year have been highly complimentary and we are certainly looking forward to more of the same in 2012.

The Bomber Command Memorial - We Will Remember Them

We are delighted to announce that Fighting High will be publishing the official book for the forthcoming Bomber Command Memorial, Green Park, London.

Jim Dooley (Director of Fund Raising with the Bomber Command Memorial Fund) – 'We are delighted to have formed this exclusive partnership with Steve Darlow and the design and editorial team at Fighting High Publishing.'

The title will be 'The Bomber Command Memorial' We Will Remember Them – and will be published in November 2012 – for Remembrance Day. We have already started on the book and recently formed a veteran 7-man bomber crew for a photo shoot at the RAF Museum, Hendon. There is a picture of 'The Magnificent Seven' on the website.

'The Bomber Command Memorial - We Will Remember Them' will tell, in words and pictures, the story of the memorial from idea to realisation – accompanied by accounts and recollections from those who served, capturing the essence and the sentiment behind this international commemoration.

Pre-Order fundraiser - £10 per book to the Bomber Command Memorial Fund
To help support the ongoing fundraising for the book we have launched a superb pre-order offer whereby if you order your book now £10 per book goes to the Memorial fund. The price of the book is £19.95, so that's over 50% of the cost going direct to support the Memorial. Further details can be found on http://www.fightinghigh.com/memorialbook.htm

Pathfinder Cranswick

Advance copies of Pathfinder Cranswick - the story of Alec Cranswick, DSO, DFC - have arrived at the office and the main shipment is due in to our warehouse very shortly. The book looks fantastic and Michael Cumming should be congratulated on his outstanding authorship in writing such a fine tribute to an extraordinary airman.

We are planning a launch event at the IWM Duxford Jubilee Air Show on 27 May with some veteran Pathfinder pilots in attendance.

Further details on the book and the launch can be found via the website.

They Gave Me a Hurricane

The autobiography of 'Ace' fighter pilot Charles 'Tich' Palliser DFC AE is about to go off to the printers, with a release date of 30 June 2012. Wing Commander Tom Neil DFC*, AFC, AE (RAF Ret'd) has kindly written the Foreword. Tich Palliser was in the midst of the fighting during the Battle of Britain and the siege of Malta, and he also survived a fair few scrapes while carrying out instructing duties in South Africa. It has been our pleasure, indeed honour, to publish the story of this outstanding airman and well respected veteran.

Bomber Command: Failed to Return II:

Virtually all the articles for volume II of our Bomber Command: Failed to Return series have been submitted and we are confident that this will be as successful as the acclaimed first volume. Publication is planned for the early autumn and again we will look to run a veteran signing event to launch the book.

1st Bedfordshires: Part Two – Arras to the Armistice

Steven Fuller is nearing completion of the second book detailing the experiences of the 1st Bedfordshires during the First World War. Publication is planned for November 2012.
