Video: "The legendary Douglas Dc-3 - DC3 Formation Departure at Farnborough (HD)"

The legendary Douglas Dc-3. This plane is an amazing piece of engineering. Even 70 years after they`ve been built there are still lots of Dc-3` s flying around, especially in Alaska, Canada and Colombia. These three Dc-3`s were part of the flying display of the Farnborough Air Show 2014. I have never seen a formation departure of Dc-3`s and that` s why I really enjoyed wathing this performance.

Aircraft preservation : Hangar Flying : Restauration of the C-47 Dakota in Melsbroek

A great achievement when comparing with the state of this aircraft when recovered.
Restoring such an aircraft in a so short period of time is a real tour de force covered by an excellent article of our friends of Hangar Flying

Good show !

Video: "The Grand Old Lady - Douglas DC-3/C-47 (Part 1)"

PERPETUAL MOTION: The Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakota (1994). A tribute of an aircraft that has flown more miles and carried more passengers and cargo than any other aeroplane in the world. It was said that the only replacement for a DC-3 was another DC-3. Douglas built total of 10,655 DC-3/C47s and 487 were built under licence in Japan, plus another 6,157 in Russia as Li-2s. This year she celebrates her 75th birthday on December the 17th 2010. This documentairy features the DC-3s of Aliansa Aerolineas Andinas S.A and her crew. Captain(owner) Jorge Luis Alvarez Rodriguez and his sister pilot Nubia Alveraz. Dear aviation fans,
From time to time we at the European Federation Historic Aviation are in the position to hire a Douglas DC-3 Dakota from the Dutch Dakota Association. Normally, the 16 seats available quickly fill up with DC-3 enthusiasts from the Netherlands. With this invitation we would like to make an exclusive DC-3 flight available to our Belgian friends.
We would liketo invite you to participate in a weekend on the beautiful island of Texel, located in the north of Holland. Travel to and from the island will be onboard the DDA's beautifully restored aircraft the PH-PBA which used to belong to the Dutch royal family.
We envisage take-off at 11:00 on Saturday 27 August from Lelystad airport    (180 km by road from Antwerp), arriving at Texel after an exciting  45-minute Dakota experience. On the island of Texel there are many things to do, and bicycles will be available free of charge during your stay on the island. There will be an opportunity to visit the local brewery which, even by Belgian standards, produces some great beers. Furthermore, you can explore Texel's stunning nature, play golf or just relax.
On Saturday at 19:00 hours the Dakota crew and passengers get together for the Captain's BBQ (drinks included). As far as sleeping accommodation is concerned,  rooms are available at competitive rates, from €30 pp.
On Sunday we all meet for breakfast at the Texel restaurant,  and  you then have the opportunity to continue exploring the  island or maybe make a sightseeing flight with the Dakota.
At 16:00 hours on 28 of August we return to Lelystad, and after 45 minutes on board you will receive your commemorative DC-3 pin and go home feeling very happy after a really great weekend.
We can make you a special offer:
·         1 hour, possibly 1 hour 30 minutes, on board the Dakota (trip to and from Texel) normal price €300.00!!!!
·         A room (for those who respond quickly some rooms are available at €30 pp. )
·         Use of a bicycle for the two days
·         Captain's BBQ Dinner, including drinks
·         Breakfast
·         DC-3 flight back to Lelystad
You get all this for € 250.00 (including a €30 room + tax). For later bookings the room charge may increase. The regular price for all this would be at least €380!!!!
We hope many Belgian friends will join us on this special EFHA trip, but please decide quickly since the end of August is quite close, and we only have 16 seats available.
Hope to see you soon.
Beet aeronautical regards,
Harry Haas, EFHA Chairman (pa@nfhl.nl)
Hans Bogstad, EFHA Ambassador to Belgium. (ambassador-belgium@efha.eu)
