Rotterdam The Hague Airport

The Dutch Aviation Society "Scramble" is proud to announce the 2017 edition of the Aviation Day. On this day you are able to buy, sell & trade slides, books, models and other aviation related items at our Air Fete. During the afternoon you are able to test your aviation knowledge during the National Spotters Championships (Nederlandse Spotterskampioenschappen, NSK). This makes the Aviation Day one of the largest social events within the Dutch spotting community.

Air Fete

The Air Fete is the place to be to buy or sell aviation related products. Think about books, slides, pictures, wallpapers, movies, models, etc., etc. These will be sold by individuals, aviation related companies, spotting societies and collectors from all over Europe. Lots of stalls will be there between the hours of 10.00 - 17.00.

Nationale Spotterskampioenschappen (NSK)

During the afternoon several aviation societies from the Netherlands will battle for the infamous aviation championship trophy. It takes 36 aviation related questions, from the Wright Flyer to the Joint Strike Fighter, to see who has won. Maybe a shoot-out will be needed to decide who has won the trophy, which was needed a couple of years ago. The NSK is not only fun for those of you "behind the table" but also for spectators who would like to test their aviation knowledge. Every aviation society in the Netherlands has been invited, so a fun and interesting battle is guaranteed!

FA-123 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon met zijn remkleppen uit Tijdens de Breitling Sion Air Show in september 2017 waren we in de gelegenheid de F-16 demo van dichtbij en van veraf (op een berg) gade te slaan. Interessant genoeg voor een artikeltje! FA-123 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon Het demo-team bij de Belgische luchtmacht wordt van 2014 tot eind dit jaar gevlogen door een vlieger van de basis Kleine Brogel. Men wisselt tussen deze basis en de basis Florennes, die hierna wellicht weer aan de beurt is. FA-123 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon trek de nodige G's De vaste demovlieger is Commandant Tom "Gizmo" De Moortel. Hij laat tijdens zijn demo zien wat de F-16 kan in gevechtssituaties. De wendbarheid spreekt nog altijd tot de verbeelding, zeker als we beseffen dat we hier te maken hebben met een type vliegtuig dat al in 1974 voor het eerst vloog. Onmiskenbaar Sion Om de demo's nog meer glans te geven is de F-16 van Gizmo uitgerust met "Sidewinder-raketten" die een rookinstallatie bevatten. Bij de meeste demo's wordt ook gebruik gemaakt van flares, lichtkogels die hittezoekende raketten af moeten leiden. Helaas werd dit laatste niet in Zwitserland gebruikt. Na de demo worden de "Smokewinders" weer gevuld met rookvloeistof De FA-123 is voorzien van een speciaal kleurenschema, voornamelijk in drie kleuren grijs met de Belgische vlag. Dit ontwerp genaamd Blizzard is gemaakt door Johan Wolfs en Peter Verheyen. Dit tweetal heeft al sinds 1991 vele toestellen van het 31e Tiger Squadron op Kleine Brogel van speciale kleuren voorzien. FA-123 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon met het Blizzard ontwerp van Johan Wolfs en Peter Verheyen Naast dit fraai beschilderde toestel is er ook nog een reserve demo-kist. Dit was in Sion de FA-134. FA-134 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon, de reservekist Deze F-16 heeft geen speciale kleuren, maar is wel voorzien van de rook-Sidewinders. Die werden gedemonstreerd bij het vertrek van de Belgen op de zaterdag van de Breitling vliegshow. FA-134 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon start met zijn "Smokewinders ON" Tijdens de demo van "Gizmo" heeft de vlieger van het reservetoestel een makkie. Hij kan vanaf een van de beste plekken, boven op zijn F-16, de show gadeslaan. Best seat in the house... Met de demo van de Belgische luchtmacht wordt een van de aantrekkelijkste F-16 solo-displays ten beste gegeven. Helaas heeft de Nederlandse luchtmacht geen geld en materiaal meer om dit ook te realiseren. Tot begin 2014 werd er nog gevlogen met een fraaie oranje F-16, de Orange Lion. Sinds 2016 is ook zelfs geen geld meer om met een gewone, operationele F-16 voor te vliegen. FA-123 General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon komt terug na zijn demo boven Sion Na zijn demo op zaterdag had de vlieger "Gizmo" nog even tijd om met Sabina van AirOnline.nl op de foto te gaan. Hierna werd alles in gereedheid gebracht om weer huiswaarts te keren en daarna weer naar een nieuwe demo. Sabina vn AirOnline.nl met "Gizmo" De Moortel Op vrijdag 10 november 2017 maakte de FA-123 zijn laatste vlucht in deze speciale demokleuren. Hierna is het tijd voor groot onderhoud aan de kist. Ook zal het dan zijn normale operationele kleuren weer terug krijgen. De drie jaar durende periode van het demovliegen door het team op Kleine Brogel is daarmee ten einde gekomen.
