Second NH90 TTH RN06 delivered to Beauvechain on Friday 24 January 2013.

On Friday 24 January 2014 the second NH90 TTH for the Belgian Air Force - RN06 - has been delivered to Beauvechain airbase from Airbus Helicopters (former Eurocopter) at Marignane (F.). In mid-2014 a third TTH and the first NH90 NFH are expected to arrive in Belgium.

The picture in flight shows RN05 with its new coloured Belgian Air Force roundel.

Le 19 juillet 2013, soit deux jours avant sa première prestation publique lors du défilé militaire de la Fête nationale, le premier NH90 TTH a été présenté à la presse par le ministre de la Défense Pieter De Crem. Arrivé à Beauvechain la veille en fin de journée de Marignane, le RN05 ne devait rester en Belgique que quelques jours avant de repartir pour Le Luc, la base française où s'effectue la formation des équipages et des équipes techniques de la Composante Air sur ce type d'appareil.

Opvolger Sea King defileert

Tijdens het nationale defilé zal de gloednieuwe NH-90 helikopter de trouwe Sea King vergezellen. Het grote publiek kan op dat moment de nieuwe investering bewonderen. Defensie stelde het nieuwe toestel voor aan de pers op vrijdag 19 juli op de militaire vliegbasis in Beauvechain. Majoor vlieger Frank De Wolf is de eerste piloot die de eer krijgt om met de NH-90 helikopter te defileren. Hij is één van de vier gevormde piloten. Foto's>>>

Le successeur du Sea King défile
Durant le défilé de la Fête nationale, le tout nouvel hélicoptère NH-90 escortera le fidèle Sea King. Le grand public pourra admirer cette nouvelle acquisition.

La Défense a présenté le nouvel appareil à la presse vendredi 19 juillet à la base aérienne de Beauvechain. Le Major aviateur Frank De Wolf est le premier pilote à avoir l'honneur de défiler aux commandes du NH-90. Il est un des quatre pilotes à avoir été formé.

First new NH90 (RN-05) helicopter delivered to Belgium at Marignane (F.).

Eurocopter today achieved a new milestone in its NH90 program with two ceremonies held at its Marignane facility near Marseille in the south of France, during which the manufacturer delivered Belgium’s first NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH) in the presence of the Belgian Defense Minister Pieter de Crem; along with the French DGA defense procurement agency’s first NH90 NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH), in its naval Step B version, to be used by the French Navy.

The first NH90 TTH helicopter to be delivered to the Belgian Air Force on December 21st, 2012

The first NHIndsutries NH90 TTH transport helicopter wearing the temporarily registration F-ZWBE, will be delivered to the Belgian Air Force on Friday December 21st, 2012 during a ceremony organised at NHIndusties plant at Marignane (France). Ten NH90 helicopters including four aircraft in the TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) version, four in the NFH (NATO Frigate Helicopter) version - and two options were ordered by the Belgian Government on June 18th, 2007. Delivery of these helicopters has been considerably delayed and Koksijde airbase, which will use the NFH variant, is eagerly expecting delivery of the first machines so that the largely overdue replacement of the ageing Westland Seaking rescue helicopters can start.

More on the first flight of the Belgian NH90 TTH

NHI is proud to announce the first flight of the first NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter ordered by the Belgian armed forces.
For this first flight performed on sept 18th from Marignane, the crew tested all the main systems of this new generation aircraft such as the engines and the flight controls.
After landing, the crew expressed its satisfaction with the behaviour of the helicopter.
The Belgian armed forces ordered eight NH90s, four TTHs for tactical transport operations and four NFHs for naval operations.

The Belgian NH90 TTH is a Full Operational Capability standard helicopter. This aircraft is very close to the french NH90 Caiman TTH for which deliveries started in the end of 2011 in Full Operational Capability Standard. This commonality brings to the Belgian customer all the return of experience collected during the development of the french NH90 TTH.

“This first flight is an important milestone for NHI since it marks the arrival of a new comer in the NH90 users community, we are all impressed by the degree of maturity demonstrated by this helicopter” declared Xavier poupardin delegated managing director of NHI.

The NH90 TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) variant is a helicopter of 11 ton class primarily configured to perform tactical transport missions in all environments by day and night. The NH90 TTH flexibility allows its users to perform additional missions such as internal/external load transport, Heliborne Operations, Special Operations, Search and Rescue, Casualties Evacuation and Training missions.

The twin-engine, medium-size NH90 helicopter program is managed by the consortium NHIndustries, the Company owned by AgustaWestland (32%), Eurocopter (62.5%), and Stork Fokker (5.5%).
The NH90 helicopter programme is the largest ever launched in Europe, with firm orders now reaching 529 units for 19 Armed Forces of 14 Nations: France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Greece, Oman, Australia, New-Zealand, Spain and Belgium.

First in flight picture of the first NH90 destined for the Belgian Air Component

Hi,

Here she is ..., the first Belgian NH90 TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) helicopter during her maiden flight on Tuesday September 18th, 2012 from the Marignane (France) Eurocopter plant.

This techncaly would be the machine to be registered RN05 (see also our news feature  "Serial numbers and colours for the Belgian Air Force's NH90 Helicopters revealed" of Monday, 4 June 2012)

Premier vol d'un nouvel hélicoptère NH90 destiné à l'armée belge

Le premier hélicoptère de transport NH90 belge a effectué mardi son premier vol au départ de l'usine Eurocopter de Marignane, près de Marseille (sud de la France), rattrapant et dépassant ainsi la version navale, qui souffre d'importants retards, a-t-on appris de source militaire. La Belgique a acheté en en mai 2007 huit hélicoptères NH90 - quatre en version navale (NFH) destinés à remplacer les Sea King vieillissants - et quatre en version de transport tactique (TTH) - pour un montant de près de 300 millions d'euros au consortium européen NHIndustries (NHI).

Le premier des quatre TTH, qui doivent fournir une nouvelle capacité de transport aéromobile aux forces armées belges, a pris l'air pour la première fois mardi depuis Marignane, où cette version est construite, a indiqué un spécialiste du dossier à l'agence BELGA.

Cette version rattrape ainsi la variante NFH, construite par Eurocopter dans son usine de Donauwörth (sud de l'Allemagne), qui devait au départ être livrée en premier. Mais le premier NH90 belge dans cette version navale n'a pas encore effectué son premier vol.

Les quatre derniers Sea King utilisés par la 40ème escadrille de Coxyde - le cinquième est exposé au Musée de l'Air à Bruxelles - doivent en principe être retirés fin 2014, après la livraison de quatre NFH. Celle-ci était un moment espérée en ... juin 2011.

The first NH90 helicopter destined for the Belgian Air Component has been put into production. Following the April 2007 approval by the Belgian Government's confirmation, the NAHEMO (NATO Helicopter Management Organisation), had signed on behalf of Belgium, a contract with NHI to supply Belgium with a total of ten NH90.
