Brussels Airport, 9 September 2019

Renovation of runway 25R/07L at Brussels Airport in 2020
After the thorough renovation of runways 25L/07R in 2015 and 01/19 in 2016, Brussels Airport Company will be renovating runway 25R/07L from 13 July to 23 August 2020.
24 years after the previous renovation works on this runway, in 1996, the entire runway needs to be closed for renovation to guarantee the safe landing and take-off of aircraft.

Due to the closure of this runway, runway use during the maintenance work at Brussels Airport is different from that under normal circumstances. To limit the duration of the runway closure and the impact of the renovation works, work is carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

[RTL.be] Brussels Airport accueille des "spotters" sur le tarmac: "On cherche à photographier de nouveaux modèles d'avions" (vidéo)

Another positive feedback of the great event organized at Brussels Airport yesterday.
Clearly another demonstration of wining long term strategy of Brussels Airport to serve the community and to have a positive image.

One of the key elements of this day was the presence of ladies and young persons amongst the spotters.
Both Brussels airport and the spotters community have a future
And who know how much of these young spotters will be aviation professionals in 5 or 10 years.

Forwarded message - De : Press office

With a 24,000-strong workforce, Brussels Airport confirms its role as a key economic driver for Belgium and its regions.

Employment figures at Brussels Airport are continuing to grow, demonstrating the sustainable growth of jobs at the airport, and, in particular, its attractiveness for workers with diverse profiles. A recent study carried out by HIVA-KU Leuven, at the request of Aviato, the reference when it comes to pooling employment opportunities at Brussels Airport, took a closer look at direct employment at Brussels Airport to draw a portrait of the workers, and thus better meet recruitment needs.

Please find the link to the press release and Aviato's press release in English.

Emergency exercise at Brussels Airport (pictures)

Some pictures of the emergency exercise at Brussels Airport on April 19th. A great demonstration of to demonstrate the peoples involved are ready in case of accident. Thank you to the Public relation dept and all the services of Brussels Airport. (click on the pictures to see)

Everything is ready to start the exercise. A Boeing 737 with 80 passengers on board was hit by a bus. The bus is on his side and an engine fire started on the aircraft.

The Firemen and Rescue Dept of Brussels Airport had left their barracks and are fighting the engine fire.

Figurants from the Red Cross and volunteers simulating the victims of the crass are evacuated by the firemen of the Brussels Airport Dept. The “passengers” played their role realistically.

During the exercise, business as usual for the airport although some of personal are involved and need to react as for a real accident.

A small part of the personal and vehicles involved in the exercise including nearby firemen barracks, emergency services and police from around the airport. A lot of police and emergency services also send teams to participate and learn from the exercise. Cooperation between the different services was also an important part of the test.

An emergency first aid post was setup in the new firemen barrack. The volunteers continued to play their role as victims.

Amongst the firemen involved, here members of the Brussels Regio rescue service.
