Aviation Society of Antwerp : 40 years of success
Last Friday, our friends of the Aviation Society of Antwerp celebrated the 40th anniversary of the organization in the cadre of the magnificent Stampe Museum in Deurne.
Starting as a small group of spotters mostly interested in aviation at and around Antwerp (by the way one of the birthplace of aviation in this country) under the name Delta Fan club, the society evolved to be the reference about civil aviation in Belgium. If many members are interested with civil aviation, ASA and her members also publish news and historical articles about military aviation in Aeronews of Belgium, the magazine of the association. This is not the only publication of ASA as specialized monographies about aircraft as the Tipsy or the Dakota are also added on a regular basis to the catalogue.
Today ASA membership is 600 strong, the largest one in Belgium of an air minded association. ASA members are also active as well at the Stampe Museum, on the flight line of the Stampe Flyin as well at numerous aviation events every year. Anyone who is interested in aviation in general and the Belgian aviation scene in particular, is welcomed as a member. Not only non-flying members, but pilots and planeowners are also to be found among the members.

If
you have questions or you are looking for information on certain planes, then
ASA is the place to be. ASA has her own 'clubhouse'
at the Jero Business center at Antwerp Airport. This is open to the
members on Saturday afternoons between 2pm and 6pm. You will find an extensive
library with books and magazines. Or, if you rather like to chat, there are
always plenty of other aviation enthousiast to talk with over a beer or
softdrink.
For sure, ASA is ready for the next 40 years of Success.
