Brussels Airport wins award for the best network development and route marketing in the world

At the World Routes event in Las Vegas in the United States, Brussels Airport has won the overall World Routes 2022 Marketing Award, and also took home the World Routes Award in its category. Brussels Airport previously won this overall award already in 2012, 2014 and 2018; which makes this the fourth overall win. Brussels Airport is the only airport that has won this award four times.

Last night, Brussels Airport received two World Routes awards at the World Routes event in Las Vegas. Brussels was the winner of the 5 to 10 million passengers' category (based on 2021 data), and then also received the overall award.

The prestigious international prize rewards the airport for its successful network strategy and route marketing, as Brussels Airport welcomed several new airline partners since the onset of the pandemic, with Air Belgium, Transavia, and Corendon Airlines opening bases, and SKY express, PLAY, Flyr, FlyOne, and HiSky starting operations. Sixteen new destinations were launched or announced in 2021 or 2022, including long-haul flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town.

"I am truly proud of our Aviation Development team and the outstanding work they deliver year-in year out, this really makes a difference, especially in these turbulent times. Even during the pandemic, Brussels Airport remained focused on maintaining the connectivity of our country, to enable people and businesses to connect, and for the gradual recovery of business and leisure travel. The World Routes 2022 Overall Award is the recognition of this successful strategy and the efforts made by the team to support our airlines.", says Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company.

The World Routes Awards are an initiative of Routes, a company that wants to stimulate network development throughout the world by, for example, publishing more news about this and by organising network events for airports and airlines. The winners of the awards are chosen by the airlines themselves.

The World Routes event is the highlight of the year and an unparalleled meeting place for airports and airlines. Brussels Airport was present with a large delegation to present the airport to more than 100 airlines and organisations. As in previous years, Brussels Airport is once again organising the now well-known and highly appreciated Brussels Café in the exhibition hall.
