It is a  little structured and useful source of info which is daily used by pilots (aircrafts, helicopters, gliders, ULM, drones) to prepare or to manage a flight.

Dans la nuit du 21 au 22 Oct 1965, le C-119G CP-19, OT-CAS, de la 40e Esc du 15e Wing de transport effectue une mission de largage de matériel près de Verckerhagen en Allemagne. En finale pour le largage, il percute le sol à 01h28z. Tous à bord, 5 membres d'équipage et 3 Paras du RavAir, trouvent la mort dans cet accident aérien.  Le commandant de bord, Luc Mommer, était l'oncle de Dominique Mommer, l'auteur de ce livre qui y a travaillé pendant plus de trois ans et nous livre ici un ouvrage plus que complet sur ce malheureux accident d'avion.  180 pages format A4, avec de nombreuses illustrations couleurs, cartes, photos et croquis, soft cover plastifiée. Préface de Wif De Brouwer, vice-président VTB. Disponible dans sa version française dès à présent. La version en néerlandais sera disponible en janvier 2022. Net voor de dropping raakte het vliegtuig de grond om 01u28z. During the Summer of 1945, USAAF executed Trolley missions over North Africa and Europe.

The official targets were to assess the results of the strategic bombing offensive and to permit to ground staff to fly as passengers over the targets of missions during World War 2.

Practically it was also a unique occasion to collect aerial pictures of the flown regions if ever it could be needed for future needs. These pictures were then “unofficially” buried in US archives for more than 60 years. Practically it was an unbelievable source of information for USAF during the cold war.

Now, a new book is covering some pictures taken over the Belgian coast. The editor and the authors already published a monumental book based on WW1 aerial pictures of the front. Here again this is a “mission completed”

This is also a “must have” book if you love the Belgian coast and/or interested in aviation history.

Unusually, the beginnings and early development of Belgian aviation was not to be found in Europe, but in its colony in Central Africa, where Société Anonyme Belge d'Exploitation de la Navigation Aérienne, always known as Sabena, went on to establish an extensive network of scheduled services within the Belgian Congo, and also inaugurated the Ligne impériale between Belgium and the Congo. A limited European network was also flown, as was a North American service after the World War Two. The loss of the Congo, which became independent in 1960, and with it, some two-thirds of its income, was a hefty blow from which it never fully recovered. An ill-fated alliance finally forced it into bankruptcy in 2001.
