Comet Racer Project

See also : http://www.cometracer.co.uk/

I thought it about time I did an update on the progress on CSR's wing build. All the wing spars are joined in the centre with the shaped 'wedges' and the blocks are in to take the wing to fuselage fittings. Ply faces are on as well, front spar is 5mm ply each side, middle is 2.5mm ply and rear spar has 7mm ply each side (which you cant get so its a layer of 4mm and then 3mm). All the middle wing ribs are in and I have put the first wing tip bow on as you can see in the pics. I am very pleased with progress which is going well. The main underwing frames have been placed in position ready to fit the mounting brackets. Then its the stringers to fit and outer plywood skins.

What an amazing machine!!!!!!!!!!
The first public air display for many a long year with 'Dodge' Bailey flying the DH88 Comet at the Shuttleworth Air Pageant on 7th September 2014. A spectacular sight and very much appreciated by the large crowd at Old Warden aerodrome in Bedfordshire.
