Luchthaven Brussels Airport knoopt opnieuw aan met groei

Luchthaven Brussels Airport heeft tijdens de maand maart 1,45 miljoen passagiers ontvangen. Dat betekent een stijging met 1,4 procent tegenover dezelfde maand vorig jaar. De luchthaven knoopt daarmee voor de eerste keer sinds de maand augustus vorig jaar opnieuw met een groei aan. De toename was vooral te danken aan het toerisme, waar een groei met 8 procent werd geregistreerd. Opgemerkt wordt dat vele Belgen de strenge winter probeerden te ontvluchten en vakanties boekten naar klassieke topbestemmingen zoals de Canarische eilanden, Turkije en Marokko. Over het eerste kwartaal van het jaar diende nog wel een daling met 0,3 procent tot 3,75 miljoen reizigers gemeld te worden. Bij het vrachtverkeer werd tijdens de maand maart een daling met 17,4 procent tot 38.314 ton opgetekend. Brussels Airlines registers 6, 3 % passenger increase in November

A total of 415,600 passengers chose Brussels Airlines in the month of November. This is an increase by 6, 3 percent compared to November 2010. The seat load factor increased with 5, 3 points.
Compared to November 2010, Brussels Airlines welcomed 24.667 more passengers on board of its intra-European and intercontinental flights. The flights to Africa registered a passenger growth of 10, 1 %. On the European flights an increase of 5,8 % was recorded.
Thanks to this passenger growth, the load factor improved with 5, 3 % points and reached in the first winter month 63, 4 %. During the month of November Brussels Airlines increased its flight offer to Moscow. On several routes larger aircraft with a higher seat capacity came into service. The seat offer on some routes with a more seasonal (summer) profile was reduced in line with the lower market demand.
Not included in these statistics are the passenger figures of the charter flights operated by Brussels Airlines on behalf of tour operators.
