Embraer sells a Lineage 1000 to an undisclosed European client, operated by FLYINGGROUP

Embraer Executive Jets announced at EBACE, the sale of an ultra-large Lineage 1000, to an undisclosed European client, operated by FLYINGGROUP.

The aircraft, the first Lineage 1000 sale to a customer in Belgium, will join the Belgium-based company’s fleet and will be available for third-party charter. Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for the second half of 2013.

“We are especially honored by the confidence of the client and FLYINGGROUP in selecting Embraer Executive Jets and by choosing our Lineage 1000 to expand its business aircraft fleet in the ultra-large category,” said Ernest Edwards, president, Embraer Executive Jets.  “Being the first to operate the Lineage 1000 from Belgium, FLYINGGROUP will provide its customers with the optimum in comfort offering a stylish cabin within five zones.”

“We are delighted to introduce the Lineage 1000, which boasts a cabin volume up to two-and-a-half times larger than traditional corporate jets in this category,” said Bernard van Milders CEO of FLYINGGROUP. “The aircraft will join our fleet to complete our current aircraft portfolio and will allow us to offer for the first time an ultra-large aircraft which definitely meets our customers’ expectations.”

The aircraft can fly from London City Airport non-stop to Moscow, Istanbul, Cairo or the Canary Islands, or with one stop, to Los Angeles, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Source: CorporateJetInvestor

Dornier 17: Salvaging a rare WWII plane from the seabed

Last flight of the Dornier 17 bomber, shot down over the Kent coast in 1940
Work begins on Friday to raise a unique World War II aircraft from the floor of the English Channel just off the Kent coast. The Dornier 17 aircraft is the last of its kind, and lies in 50ft of water on the Goodwin Sands. The salvage is just the start of a two-year restoration project by the RAF Museum in Hendon.
