Korongo celebrates first flight from Joburg to Lubumbashi

The maiden flight of new African air operator Korongo Airlines’ twice-weekly service between Lubumbashi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Johannesburg, left the OR Tambo International Airport on Friday.

Korongo, which would connect regions in Central Africa with Johannesburg and Brussels, in Belgium, kicked off its domestic operations from Lubumbashi on April 16.

Friday’s flight carried about 40 passengers on the 126-seat Boeing 373-300. Korongo CEO Christophe Allard told Engineering News Online that passenger numbers was expected to grow exponentially.

Le projet du KBAM (Kleine-Brogel Air Museum) a été lancé par quelques bénévoles, principalement anciens militaires du 10e Wing tactique. Il s'agit d'une entreprise d'envergure qui vise à raconter l'histoire de la base depuis 1944.

Le musée se compose tout d'abord de quelques appareils utilisés par le 10e Wing présentés en exposition statique à proximité du Hof Bergendal : F-84E, F-84F, F-104G et F-16. Un Fouga Magister complète le parc avions.
