Belgian Air Force to protect the Baltic skies for the third time

At the year’s end, Belgium is to deploy for the third time four F-16 fighters to Zokniai (Lithuania) to assure the Air Defence of the Baltic States in the framework of NATO’s operation “Baltic Air Policing”. The Belgian Council of Ministers has approved the mission on Friday December 7th, 2012. Previous deployments to Lithuania by Belgian Air Force F-16’s occurred between March and June 2004 (click dates to see special features on "Belgian Wings") and between December 2006 and March 2007. In all 13 allied countries participate in this NATO mission to guard the Baltic Skies the duration of which vary from 1 and a half to four months. The participating countries are: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Turkey, the United and the United States.
