Event August 13 and 14 : Fly en drive in Schaffen 2016 : The place to be

Op 13 en 14 augustus 2016 gaat op het vliegveld van Schaffen de traditionele Fly &amp; Drive In door. Dit jaar met een speciaal luik want het is 100 jaar geleden dat het Duitse leger met de aanleg van het vliegveld startte. Om dit feit wat meer in de verf te zetten, participeren zowel het Trainingscentrum voor Parachutisten als het Luchtcomponent aan de organisatie. Een deel van de militaire installaties zal open zijn er is een tentoonstelling over 100 jaar Schaffen te bezichtigen. Als het weer het toelaat, komen er ook een aantal vliegtuigen die wat met de geschiedenis van het vliegveld te maken hebben.

Naar aanleiding van de viering ‘100 jaar Schaffen’ is ook een boek samengesteld. Het wordt op
12 augustus aan het publiek voorgesteld en daarna op de Fly-in te koop aangeboden. De erkoopsprijs
bedraagt 45 euro. Wie echter vóór 10 augustus 2016 bij de uitgeverij De Krijger intekent en 42 euro
overschrijft op de rekening IBAN BE78 0015 2189 0186 (vermelding Boek Schaffen), ontvangt het
boek via de post zonder daarvoor verzendingskosten te moeten betalen. Wat krijgt men hiervoor in de plaats? Een meer dan 300 pagina’s overzicht van een eeuw luchtvaartgeschiedenis, gebaseerd op
oorspronkelijk bronnenmateriaal en aangevuld met voor een deel nog nooit gepubliceerd fotomateriaal. In het boek is ook heel wat speciale aandacht besteed aan een aantal bijna vergeten
historische feiten.
