Brussels Airlines flies to Edinburgh starting this weekend

This Sunday, October 28, the very first Brussels Airlines scheduled flight will set course to Edinburgh, with hardly any empty seats left. The scheduled service to Edinburgh, which is the first operated by a Belgian airline since 2001, kicked off with excellent booking results and is well received amongst city trippers and business people. That’s why Brussels Airlines already foresees to increase the frequency to two times daily as from summer season 2013 (starting in April).

With the opening of Edinburgh Brussels Airlines adds an important leisure and business destination to its European network. Edinburgh is a vibrant city, hosting a number of exciting events all year. Edinburgh is also the capital of Scotland. The city houses the Scottish Parliament, and is the second most important financial centre of the UK, after London, due to the presence of many banks and insurance companies. Edinburgh airport is the ideal gateway to discover the city, the peaceful countryside in the Lothians land and the surrounding green scenery in Scotland.

Edinburgh is the 6th Brussels Airlines destination in the UK, and complements the daily Brussels Airlines flight offer to London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Newcastle.

il fut l'un des pioniers du vol à voile en Belgique

Les funérailles auront lieu le lundi 29 Oct à 10h30.

Onze vriend en lid Guy ENGLEBERT (VT) is op 25 Okt overleden; hij was bijna 75.

Zijn begrafenisdienst heeft plaats op maandag 29 Okt om 10u30.

Afrika houdt Brussels Airlines op de rails

Brussels Airlines heeft in de maand september minder passagiers vervoerd dan in dezelfde maand vorig jaar. Het aantal reizigers liep met bijna vier procent terug tot ruim 560.000, ondanks een groei van 11,9 procent op routes van en naar Afrika. De Lufhansa-dochter kampt met tegenvallende passagierscijfers op het Europese netwerk.

Om de dalende vraag binnen Europa op te vangen, verlaagde Brussels Airlines eerder al de capaciteit. Dat vertaalt zich volgens de maatschappij in een stabiele bezettingsgraad. In september kreeg Brussels Airlines gemiddeld 72,9 procent van de stoelen gevuld, tegenover 72,8 procent in 2011.

Brussels Airlines vliegt vanaf Brussel naar twintig bestemmingen in Afrika. De dit jaar gestarte lijndienst naar New York trekt volgens de Belgische maatschappij ook veel passagiers.
