News 20161211: New Albatros in the collection

This Saturday december 3 saw the arrival of our new     acquisition : an ultralight Aviasud Albatros AE209 .
It was given by Michel Baudrux who based it at the nearby Liernu ulmodrome.
Except the propeller and two instruments, it is complete and in state of airworthiness.
The Albatros was designed by the belgians engineers Bernard d'Otreppe and François Goethals who founded  Aviasud at Frejus in France to produce their others famous ultralights : the Sirocco and the Mistral.
Although french registered, the Albatros find its place thanks its belgian linkage in our collection.
Many thanks to Michel Baudrux for this beautiful gift.

Bronco Newsletter

Welcome to our Bronco Newsletter!

Bronco Demo Team was formed in 2010 by a group of OV-10 Bronco enthousiasts. Our main goal is to maintain a living memory of this significant historic airplane and present the Bronco fully operational in its natural environment - flying through the sky - at airshows worldwide.

Enjoy, fly and live safe!

2016: A successful season with many firsts

Bronco Demo Team enjoyed an amazing and truly record breaking airshow season in 2016, with not less than 23 public performances in front of close to 3 million people in 7 different countries.

There were many "firsts" and our Tiger theme proved to be a huge success.

As usual we kicked off with a Bronco Fan Day, a cosy - free for all - family event, at our home base in Wevelgem. In may we had our UK Bronco Fan Day, followed by participation in the Abingdon Air and Country Fayre with both the Bronco and Skyvan.

The first larger show in earnest was the Duxford American Airshow where the Bronco performed a unique duo display together with our company Skyvan, cumulating in perfectly choreographed simultaneous Khe Sanh landings.

Next were the great Dutch Air Force Days in Leeuwarden, our presence supporting the first public presentation in Europe of the F35 Lightning II.

Another highlight was the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight held at a most famous and historic of Battle of Britain airfield. Here the Bronco performed a "first" with a dynamic pyrotechnics display, emulating close-air support strafing runs, much to the appreciation of the crowds.

We then moved up north for the Danish Air Force Air Show at Skrydstrup, with a strong attendance resulting in about 5000 of the visitors moving through our Skyvan in the static show, while the Bronco took part in the flying display.

The Armed Forces Day at Cleethorpes in the UK saw the longest mission completed for one flying display; the Bronco remaining airborne for almost two hours and a half, including the transit times.

The next weekend saw another "first" with a Bronco flying display at two different venues on the same day, at the Royal Navy Yeovilton Air Day and at the Wales International Airshow in Swansea.

We remained in the UK that week to take part in the world's largest military airshow at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in Fairford, our sixth appearance there.

An absolute highlight the following weekend was an invitation to the Farnborough International Airshow – the bi-annual world renowned trade show - for a flying display with the Bronco and a Skyvan in the static. It was a great honour to display at this truly sacred aviation ground.

One week later our second appearance at the Sunderland International Airshow was as popular as last year's, with great hospitality and a massively enthusiastic crowd.
The RNAS Culdrose Air Day was another excellent show, where Bronco Demo Team was the proud recipient of the Best Flying Display Award.

On the way back home from Culdrose we made a humble contribution at the charitable Aerobility event in Blackbushe, in what seems to have been the kick-off to another great new event on the airshow calendar.

Our participation at Airbourne, the annual Eastbourne International Airshow was another first and truly a great experience.

The annual pilgrimage to the APCK fly-in in Zoersel made a few locals happy with the opportunity for a ride in the Bronco.

The Clacton airshow is another seaside airshow attracting hundreds of thousands for a great variety of acts, one of which was the Bronco.

The next weekend the Bronco positioned to Scotland and Northern Ireland, once more to perform two shows in a single day, the Scottish International Airshow at Ayr and Airwaves in Portrush. The latter being a return visit. While the Bronco displayed up north, our Skyvan Demo Team had the honour to present a Skyvan – especially adorned in Austrian Air Force markings for the occasion - at the highly regarded AirPower16 event in Austria. This was a major "first" for us by having our aircraft displays and teams spread out over three different airshows and two countries in one single weekend.

The season finally closed with a Bronco flying display at the Sanicole Airshow near home in Belgium, bidding an end to a rewarding season.

We are very grateful for the continued support we do receive from the many airshows organizers and enthusiasts around the world and for the unequalled trust you put in Bronco Demo Team.

We are already very busy with the preparations for the 2017 season with an exciting new theme. This theme will be revealed over the Christmas holidays and is hoped to prove very attractive and fitting in this time of remembrance.

Stay tuned!
