Burggraaf Dirk Frimout werd twintig jaar geleden onze eerste Belgische astronaut.
Van 24 maart tot 2 april 1992 cirkelde hij als "payload specialist” aan boord van de shuttle missie STS045 van de NASA met de Spaceshuttle ATLANTIS 143 maal om de aarde : iets meer dan 214 uren in de ruimte ! Van 24 tot en met 28 september 2012 nodigt hij als voorzitter van de Euro Space Society de ganse bemanning van de zending STS045 uit om in België deel te nemen aan conferenties en debatten over ruimteonderzoek in het kader van de "Space Week 2012”.

Le Vicomte Dirk Frimout est devenu il y a vingt ans notre premier astronaute belge.

Du 24 mars au 2 avril 1992 il a fait en tant que « payload specialist » 143 fois le tour de la terre à bord de la mission de la NASA STS045 avec la navette spatiale ATLANTIS : un peu plus de 214 heures dans l’espace !

Du 24 au 28 septembre 2012 il invitera en tant que président de l’Euro Space Society tout l’équipage de la mission STS045 en Belgique pour animer des conférences et des débats,
