24 August 1914: IIme Escadrille HF was obliged to withdraw to Petit-Chapelle, close to Chimay and home town of Fernand Jacquet. On the 24th, the unit was reported 'missing in action'.
Lieutenant Adhémar Tapproge, still hospitalised after his crash on August 6th, was made prisoner when the Germans took over Namur.
Reconnaissance missions: 5
• Lts R.Dhanis-E.Bronne, III Esc.HF, 1636-1810 – hit by six bullets between Waelhem & Grimbergen.
• Lts J.Soumoy-F.Petit, II Esc.HF – forced to land at Chimay.
These reconnaissances unveiled the German advance in the south
west of Belgium.
