Solar Impulse – Supporters Program – JUNE 10, 2011

Dear Supporters, A favorable weather window seems to be opening up for Saturday 11th June 2011. The Solar Impulse HB-SIA will try to rally Paris to participate at the International Paris Air Show from the 20 to 26 June 2011. The prototype, piloted by André Borschberg, will take off from Brussels Airport at around 6:00 pm and will land at Paris-Le Bourget sometime after 2:00 am (UTC + 2) Sunday 12th June. The flight should last approximately 8 hours. The Fight Director and his team will assist the pilot from the "Mission Control Center" in Payerne (CH). Track the European Solar Flights Live! The flight can be followed live on www.solarimpulse.com and via the Smartphone app "Solar Impulse Inventing the Future", available free on Appstore and Androïd Market. The airplane's position, altitude and speed will be shown live and cameras fitted inside the cockpit and in the "Mission Control Center", the mission's nerve center, will allow you to experience the adventure live. Although the flight has been confirmed, the Flight Director may still decide to postpone it or alter the route up until a short time before takeoff. Opening in Brasschaat van een Expertise- en Interpretatiecentrum voor Artillerie : « Gunfire »

Na de opening van een antenne in Bastenaken zet het honderdjarige Koninklijk Legermuseum zijn uitbreiding verder. Op 10 juni 2011 om 11 u 30 huldigt de Algemeen Directeur, Dominique Hanson, inderdaad nog een gloednieuwe museale site in: « Gunfire ». Dit Expertise- en Interpretatiecentrum voor Artillerie bevindt zich in het Kwartier West in Brasschaat, in de nabijheid van Antwerpen.
Het historische oord midden op het oudste schietterrein van het land is door de aanwezigheid van de School voor Artillerie eigenlijk de wieg van de Belgische artillerie.
In grote moderne loodsen kan de bezoeker een ruime waaier van Belgisch artilleriematerieel ontdekken. De lichte luchtvaart, de voormalige observatieluchtvaart van de artillerie, is ook op deze site te vinden, evenals uiteenlopend gepantserd materieel. Geleide bezoeken op aanvraag.
De inhuldiging wordt gevolgd door een parade van het Bataljon Artillerie om 13u30. Een compagnie van de ISAF (International Security and Assistance Force) die in oktober voor een missie van vier maanden naar Afghanistan vertrekt, neemt aan de feestelijkheden deel.
