Event : Expo ' Vliegweek International Temse, 1912 ' - Semaine internationale de Tamise 1912 - International week Temse 1912
In 1912, Temse was the capital of seaplane during the international seaplane week. An exhibition, the publication of a book and special animations will celebrate the 100th anniversary of this event.

Expo 'De Internationale Vliegweek in Temse, 1912'
De zomerexpo van de beheerraad van het Gemeentemuseum is in de regel gewijd aan een historische benadering van een typisch Temses onderwerp. Voor 2012 is de Vliegweek het voor de hand liggende thema. De raad van beheer was van in het begin één van de grote bezielers van de viering van het evenement en heeft als dusdanig een belangrijke functie als (pro)motor vervuld. De expo 'De Internationale Vliegweek in Temse, 1912' loopt van 30 juni tot 30 september.

Expo ' Vliegweek International dans Temse, 1912 '
L'exposition d'été du Musée communal est habituellement consacré à un sujet historique conçernant Temse. En 2012 la semaine d'hydraviation est un thème évident. L'expo "Vliegweek International van Temse 1912" est ouverte du 30 juin au 30 septembre les samedi de 14 à 18h et le dimanche de 10 à 12h.

The summer exhibition of the Gemeentemuseum (Municipal Museum) is usually devoted to a historical subject about Temse. For 2012 the seaplane week was a logical theme. The exhibition 'International Vliegweek in Temse, 1912' will run from 30 June to 30 September.Open on Saturday from 14 to 18 o'clock and on the Sunday from 10 to 12 o'clock.

Cambrai airbase closure ceremony
Cambrai is located not so far from the Belgian border. The squadrons of the airbase had allways strong relations with Belgian squadrons. The closure was decided sometime ago, the final ceremony took place on June 28th.

Duxford Flying Legend : Bucker Jungmann and Jungmeister and Republic P-47G Thunderbold SNUFU
Just back from Duxford and the first pictures. This year, the sky was cloudy giving ever changing background for the aircraft. The new P-47 of the Fighter Collection attended for the first time. As a spectator, I enjoyed the show of both Buckers. More pictures to come and reports from friendly websites

Van Osch Film Produkties is busy gathering material to make a documentary about the Dakota airplane that belongs to the Wings of Liberation Museum in Best, The Netherlands. This plane got severely damaged during transportation to the Soldier of Orange musical.
In the documentary this airplane will be telling her own life story.
For this documentary we are looking for photos and video material (we would also like to receive home videos!) from the period 1987 to 2002 in which this airplane (registration F-BAIF) was placed on a pole outside the Victory Memorial Museum in Arlon, Belgium.
Besides this we are trying to get in touch with (former) employees of the Victory Memorial Museum for the period that the airplane was at that museum.
We would also like to receive other photos or (home)videos from other periods, for example from the period when the plane was located at the Wings of Liberation museum in Best, The Netherlands.

Op 20 juni 2012 kreeg het team Operationele Directie 'Waarnemingen' van Dr. Steven Dewitte van het Koninklijk Meteorologisch Instituut van België (KMI) het bericht dat het project 'SIMBA' geselecteerd werd om deel uit te maken van het CubeSat project QB50. Het QB50-project, dat geleid wordt door het Von Karman Instituur in België, bestaat uit vijftig kleine CubeSat satellietjes die voornamelijk atmosferisch onderzoek gaan uitvoeren op een hoogte van ongeveer 320 kilometer. Deze kleine kunstmaantjes zullen eind 2014 in de ruimte gebracht worden vanuit een onderzeeër in de Barentszee in de buurt van Murmansk. SIMBA staat voor 'Sun-earth IMBAlance' en is een hoogtechnologische radiometer die zowel zal meten hoe de Zon de Aarde opwarmt alsook hoe de Aarde afkoelt door het uitzenden van infrarode straling. Door dit te onderzoeken, kunnen wetenschappers meten hoeveel netto-energie er van de Zon op onze planeet achterblijft en welk effect dit heeft op het klimaat en de mens. Het SIMBA-instrument werd ontwikkeld door het KMI in samenwerking met de Koninklijke Sterrenwacht van België, het Franse onderzoek laboratorium LATMOS, de Vrije Universiteit van Brussel en de Universiteit van Luik, in het kader van het Solar Terrestrial Center of Excellence. Het uiteindelijke vluchtmodel zal gebouwd worden door het ervaren KMI-radiometer team dat ondermeer ook de Sova-Picard radiometer ontwikkelde. SIMBA zal meevliegen tijdens een voorbereidende vlucht op een hoogte van 500 kilometer. Voor de financiering van het SIMBA-project zal een voorstel ingediend worden in het Prodex-programma van het Federale Wetenschapsbeleid.
