Dear Aviation Enthusiasts,
I have the pleasure to inform you that the BRUCONVENTION 2012 is fully confirmed !
It will take place on Saturday 17th November in the usual school in Zaventem (Atheneum Zaventem-Kortenberg, Spoorwegstraat 1, Zaventem) from 09 am until 4 pm. Entrance will only be 2€ per person. It's one month later than usual due to the limited availability of the location and many other conventions taking place in October around Europe.
The BRUCONVENTION exists for more than 10 years and is the place where you can find everything you need for your favorite hobby : photos, postcards, aircraft models, books, safety cards, posters and other aviation memorabilias. Prices are always very competitive and you will meet collectors from other European countries.
If you want to ask a question or book a table (only 25€, including one entrance), you may do it by email (bruconvention@hotmail.com). Visitors with a reserved table will be allowed to enter from 8am to install their collectibles.
I hope to see you all on Saturday 17th November to share our common passion for aviation. Please pass on this message to your friends. It's important to keep the convention alive !

Dinsdag 6 november 2012 installeerde astronaut Aki Hoshide de Portable Power Supply (PPS) in het Europese laboratorium Columbus van het Internationaal Ruimtestation ISS. De PPS kan stroom leveren aan drie experimenten tegelijk, maar momenteel is er slechts één aangesloten: TRITEL (Three-Axis Telescope). Het Europese TRITEL zal gedurende 6 maanden continu en heel nauwkeurig de stralingsomgeving in kaart brengen binnenin het Columbuslabo.

De Portable Power Supply heeft één ingang van 124V en drie uitgangen van 28V, zoals gebruikt voor de meeste experimenten en laptops. Elke uitgang kan afzonderlijk worden uitgeschakeld, zodat er geen interferentie is tussen de verschillende aangesloten experimenten.

De gerestaureerde documentaire film gemaakt naar aanleiding van 50 jaar Sabena.
Op 7 november was het 11 jaar geleden dat Sabena, onze nationale luchtvaartmaatschappij, failliet ging. MeMotv zocht en vond in het archief Op gouden vleugels uit 1973. De film was echter dermate aangetast, dat uitzenden geen optie was. Maar dat was buiten de VRT-restauratiespecialisten gerekend. Zij hebben er opnieuw een blinkende reportage van gemaakt, die wij u met trots aanbieden.
Op gouden vleugels behandelt 50 jaar Sabena-geschiedenis, met uniek historisch beeldmateriaal. We maken kennis met een bedrijf dat avontuurlijk en succesvol start, maar na de dekolonisatie van Belgisch Congo in 1960 in een financieel debacle terechtkomt. De luchtvaart wordt gedemocratiseerd en chartermaatschappijen voeren een bikkerharde concurrentie.
De Belgische nationale luchtvaartmaatschappij wordt intussen geacht zowel maatschappelijke als economische belangen te dienen. Ze wordt opgevorderd voor luchtbruggen tijdens de Congo-crisis, en allerlei internationale hulpacties. Tegelijk moet ze vertrouwen en prestige uitstralen. De film volgt enkele Sabéniens, airhostessen en piloten, in hun stijlvolle en luxueuze werkomgeving, met de spotlights op de uniformen en de exotische bestemmingen.
Ook toenmalig directeur Goossens wordt geïnterviewd. Hij waarschuwt -anno 1973- voor het financiële moeras waar de maatschappij in terechtgekomen is. De rest is geschiedenis. In 2001 gaat Sabena roemloos ten onder. De droom op gouden vleugels is voorgoed voorbij.
