Horten Flying Wing Heading to NASM's Udvar-Hazy Center

The NASM's Horten H IX V3 Flying Wing is being prepared for shipment to the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar this month. Here we see shop Foreman Rob Mawhinney gently guiding forklift operators Amelia Kile, Carl Schuettler, Anthony Wallace, and Carl Bobrow as they carefully lower the unique prototype onto its purpose-built cradle. The artifact is incredibly fragile, and it was vital to get it perfectly balanced on the frame. (photo by Lauren Horelick via NASM)

Video Lorraine Group Medium Bomber Group

The Lorraine Group was a French medium bomber squadron who flow with the RAF. Their job was specially dangerous and difficult as the operated daily above their country bombing their homeland. Ainsi, nous survolons en temps réel la campagne anglaise, la Manche, les falaises des côtes françaises, la campagne française, des champs, villes et villages, les sites bombardés, ainsi que le retour vers l'Angleterre.

Featured aircraft this year were the Bücker Jungmann, DH.89 Rapide and DH.87 Hornet Moth (all of which are c" New post on GAR Aviation Event Review – North Weald Air Britain Fly-in 2014 by Mike Shreeve Air Britain held their annual Vintage and Classic fly-in for 2014 at North Weald over the weekend of 14-15 June, with the support of The Squadron. Featured aircraft this year were the Bücker Jungmann, DH.89 Rapide and DH.87 Hornet Moth (all of which are celebrating the 80th anniversary of their first flights in 2014) and the Siai-Marchetti SF.260 (on its 50th anniversary). Inclement weather precluded quite a few aircraft from attending, but there were still 110 visiting aircraft recorded over the two days of the fly-in. In the event no Bückers were in attendance, but there were examples of the Rapide, Hornet Moth and SF.260 present. Mike Shreeve reports for GAR.
