this day in 1918 over Flanders fields:
Flight "Jaune" of Adjudants André De Meulemeester, Georges Kervyn, & Gusto de Mévius attacked a two-seater over Schoorbakke at close range, which broke up in the air. Gusto de Mévius was not credited with a share of this victory on account of a gun jam at the critical moment. Leutnant de Reserve Walter Lippold & Oberleutnant Karl Porth, MFA II, were killed on this day at Schoorbakke. In the evening the Green & White Flight of Lieutenant Jan Olieslagers, comprising Adjudants Léon Gérard & Gilbert Ory
& Sergents Edmond Kervyn de Meerendré & Maurice Jamar spotted a solitary scout. It was attacked by Gérard, Ory, & finally by Olieslagers, who claimed to shoot it down. Earlier in the day, Olieslagers claimed another aircraft possibly hit, which went down out of control during a fight with his Green & White Flight & seven scouts.
