Two die in helicopter crash in Huy

Helicopter Robinson R22 Beta II OO-DTZ crashed in the municipal park in the centre of the Walloon town of Huy on Friday. The helicopter was being used to take aerial photos of the town. The helicopter flew low over the River Maas and hit a cable lift.

Brussels Airlines passengers pleased with new long haul cabin

Brussels Airlines inaugurated its brand new long haul cabin this week, on a flight to Cameroon. The first long haul aircraft to be refurbished with the new Business Class flat bed seats, the ergonomic Economy Class seats and a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system, is now flying between Brussels Airport and Africa and will soon set course to New York JFK. The first passengers that were welcomed on board were very satisfied with the result.

The first retrofitted airplane, Brussels Airlines Airbus A330-300 (registration OO-SFW), left the hangars of Lufthansa Technik Malta last weekend after a month long maintenance and refurbishment that took roughly 10.000 man-hours. In the last few days the first passengers already got a taste of the new product on board flights to Cameroon, Gambia and Sierra Leone.

Histoire Aérodrome

Le D21 : patrimoine exceptionnel de la base aérienne de Florennes.

70 ans après sa construction, entreprise par les Allemands en 1942, l’aérodrome de Florennes recèle encore de nombreux vestiges de cette époque : anciennes pistes, fondations de bâtiments, cratères de bombes, etc.

De toutes ces cicatrices du passé, le hangar D21 émerge comme le dernier témoin – muet – le mieux préservé de la destruction par les bombardements, les intempéries, le poids des années.
Sa solide et ingénieuse charpente en bois témoigne du savoir-faire germanique de l’époque. La maçonnerie présente une structure caractéristique en ‘T’, destinée à abriter un avion mono ou bimoteur tels que les Messerschmitt 110, Junkers 88 et autres Focke-Wulf 190 qui occupèrent l’aérodrome à partir de mars 1943. Chauffé, le lieu de travail des mécaniciens allemands s’avère bien fonctionnel.
Pour la toute première fois, une exposition s’y tiendra le weekend de l’Airshow. En effet, ce site unique abritera du matériel militaire authentique en rapport avec l’histoire de l'aérodrome, dans le contexte de la guerre aérienne locale. La pièce maîtresse sera la présentation in situ des restes d’un Focke-Wulf 190 de la JG 26. Nul doute que son imposant moteur BMW 801 impressionnera le public. Pour la toute première fois depuis 1944, cet ‘oiseau’ retrouvera son ‘nid’: on ne pouvait mieux imaginer ce « retour aux sources » historique.
Venez nombreux visiter cette exposition exceptionnelle au sein d’un des derniers témoins du patrimoine aéronautique, unique en Europe.

	Aircraft of the R.A.F. and S.A.A.F. during World War II in Colour A set by Etiennedup World War Two ended 67 years ago, and nearly all of us that use the Net today did not witness any of it. Everything we know we read in books, viewed in photos and saw in newsreels of the time. Colour photography was in its infancy in 1939 therefore more than 90% of those images were recorded in black and white.Fortunately there were people who took colour photos,and today these images gives us a rare view(on our own "colour" terms) into those happenings of so long ago. This set contains aircraft used by the Royal Air Force of Great Britain including Fleer Air Arm and to a lesser extent the South African Air Force,as well as other Allies in the British Commomwealth. Hello,

Certainly a valuable experience to inspire some of us.
Our friends of http://www.anciens-aerodromes.com were in Le Bourget with a webcam and an internet connection.
They published "live" pictures during the event and a video.
Certainly an idea to use during aeronautical events (the day before at the aircrafts arrival) to have a look and feel of the event to come.
Also interesting for the ones who can not go to the event.
