International Jets à EBLG (Bierset)

Vendredi 01^er  juillet, nous avons eu le plaisir de voir atterrir un avion peu commun.

Il s’agit d’un Aerovodochody L-39 Albatros. Cet avion d’entraînement avancé des forces de l’ex bloc de l’est est très en vogue chez nos amis d’outre atlantique.

Cet avion était piloté par Richard « Mongoose » Hess , patron d’« International Jets » situé dans l’Alabama sur l’aéroport municipal de Gadsden. Cette société s’est spécialisée dans la rénovation, l’entretient et le vente du L-39. Elle permet à de richissime collectionneur d’acquérir un avion de chasse performant pour un prix relativement « intéressant ».

(entre 180.000 et 600.000 $ l’unité). 

C’est dans cette optique que Sergeï Mayzus, CEO de United World Capital ltd, a fait appel à

International Jets, en vue de lui fournir 8 L-39 Albatros.

Son but : constituer une patrouille acrobatique « Mayzus Aerobatic Team » à l’instar de « Breitling Jet team » et son chef de fil Jacques Bothelin.

Afin de faire évoluer ces machines dans les cieux européens, un convoyage depuis l’usine de restauration aux Etats-Unis est nécessaire. Ce voyage prend environ quatre jours.

Un convoyage par bateau prendrait environ quarante jours s’il fallait le démonter et le convoyer. Le prix serait également plus élévé.

Liége Airport est donc l’un des aéroports de transit choisi par monsieur Hess, pour effectuer ce long convoyage des ces splendides machines.

Richard m’a personnellement confirmé qu’il aimait bien Liège car le service est rapide et efficace en plus d’être idéalement situé.

Ce 01^er juillet notre aéroport a accueillit (et ce pour la troisième fois) un L-39 richement décoré. L’avion et l’équipage étant pris en charge par « Signature ».

Liège se trouve être le dernier aérodrome de transit avant que l’avion ne se pose à sa destination finale.

Espérons que les 7 autres avions que « International Jets » doit encore livrer, passerons encore par Liège. Wait and see…

Belgian aircraft delivered to India before WW1

We received this intriguing picture from Jean-Louis Roba.
Forget the typical 19Th century European superior (and stupid) point of view expressed in the legend about other cultures
We have no trace of aircraft manufactured in Belgium before WW1 and delivered to India.
We suppose it could be pictures taken when de Caters & Tyck visited India.
Could anyone confirm ?

On June 18-19, the Saint-Dizier air base celebrated its 60^th anniversary and the first 30.000 flight hours on Rafale. To commemorate this, two Rafales were specially painted in a dark black-grey colour with "30.000 hours" written on the back and "Armée de l'Air" painted on the belly. Two Rafales were seen as static display behind the hangars, in the public area. It was even possible for children to climb into the cockpit. Four other Rafales could be seen inside the last hangar on the left of the public area, where tables were set for lunch. On Saturday June 18, the weather was sunny but suddenly some spectacular cumulonimbus generated violent, brief thunderstorms and it disturbed the airshow a little. The Royal Jordanian Falcons team and other light aircrafts did not take off at all and the planning of the other displays was changed because of the poor weather conditions. Three famous aerobatic teams like "The Red Arrows, The Breitling Jet Team and the Patrouille de France were lucky enough to fly in good weather. This event was in the end a beautiful success and the many visitors enjoyed it very much.

Vrijdagmorgen 08/07/2011 - 10h15 stipt scheerde de Patrouille de France boven het Poelkapelse Guynemermonument bij hun terugkeer naar Frankrijk na hun deelname aan de luchtmeeting van Koksijde.

Twee jaar geleden deden ze dit al eens onaangekondigd en werden ze toevallig opgemerkt. Deze keer nam het Poelkapelse Guynemercomité contact op met hun basis in Salon de Provence van zodra zeker was dat de Patrouille deelnam aan de internationale meeting te Koksijde. De kleine hint dat de afstand Koksijde - Poelkapelle, de plaats waar hun nationale held en symbool van de Franse jachtpiloot verdween,  amper 25 km bedraagt werkte. Amper de dag voordien werd vanuit Salon de Provence officieel medegedeeld dat er groen ligt was van de Stafchef voor een "survol".  Enkele toevallige toeschouwers, het opgetrommeld gemeentebestuur en leden van het Guynemercomité stonden reeds vanaf 9u30 met het fototoestel paraat.

Groot was onze verwondering toen de acht Alpha Jets de Franse driekleur over het Poelkapelse dorp verspreidden. Verschillende toeschouwers zeiden achteraf dat ze er kippevel van kregen en niet in het minst de aanwezige Guynemercomitéleden die hierachter staken.
Naast het eerbetoon aan hun luchtvaartheld willen de Fransen hiermee ook hun dank en steun betuigen aan het Poelkapelse Guynemercomité zoals moet blijken uit onderstaande woorden: "Le comité Guynemer de Poelkapelle est extrêmement actif. Il fait beaucoup pour conserver la mémoire de notre héros. Ils méritent vraiment qu'on les aide."

Gesterkt door deze steun wordt verder gewerkt aan de voorbereidingen voor de 5-jaarlijkse herdenking volgend jaar op 15 september te Poelkapelle, maar ook al aan de 100-jarige herdenking in 2017. Dit was alvast een proevertje ...

La Patrouille de France survole à Poelkapelle le monument Guynemer, symbole de l’Armée de l’Air.

Ce vendredi 8 juillet à 10.15 h précise, la Patrouille de France, à son retour vers Salon de Provence, après un cours séjour à la base aérienne de Coxyde, surgit brusquement au dessus du monument Guynemer de Poelkapelle.
Déjà, il y a deux ans elle l'avait fait mais sans avertir personne. Cependant cela n'avait pas échappé à quelques témoins. Cette fois, le comité Guynemer était bien sûr au courant de la présence de la Patrouille de France au meeting de Coxyde et avait pris contact avec les organisateurs. Mais la réponse positive était arrivé trop tard pour en informer la population. Néanmoins une vingtaine de personnes - par hasard ou non - étaient rassemblées pour vivre cet événement.
Pendant son survol, la Patrouille de France était bien sûr suivie de son traditionnel panache tricolore français qui s'est propagé tel un serpentin au dessus du village, où Guynemer, dans des circonstances restées mystérieuses, a disparu le 11 septembre, 1917.
Plusieurs spectateurs, notamment les membres du Comité présents, ont dit après le passage, leur émotion et aussi la fierté ressentie. Outre l'hommage à un héros français, c'est également un témoignage de reconnaissance et de soutien au membres du Comité Guynemer de Poelkapelle. Ce qui était évident à partir des mots qui ont été adressés aux responsables de la Patrouille de France pour demander ce passage :

« Le comité de Guynemer de Poelkapelle est extrêmement actif.
Il fait beaucoup pour conserver la mémoire de notre héros. Ils méritent vraiment qu'on les aide”.
Encouragés par ce soutien, les membres du Comité travaillent activement non seulement aux préparatifs du 95e anniversaire (le 15 septembre 2012 à Poelkapelle), mais aussi à la commémoration du 100e anniversaire en 2017 ! Les chantiers sont déjà lancés … !

15th Anniversary of Hercules CH-06 crash at Eindhoven.

Last Friday it was exactly 15 years ago that the Belgian Air Force suffered its worst air disaster, when Lockheed C-130H Hercules CH-06 crashed at Eindhoven on July 15th, 1996.

Let's have a thought for the 34 victims (4 crew members and 30 members of the KLu band) and the 7 survivors who all suffered severe burns.

Event : Aero-Kiewit Historic Days : A magical step back in time Kiewit 27 & 28/08/2011

  A MAGICAL STEP BACK IN TIME

On this August 27th and 28th, Aero-Kiewit will be holding its "Historic Days". It'll be a magical step back in time, a unique opportunity to admire vintage airplanes, cars and motorcycles, taking you back to the early days of flight, in the authentic environment at the "Oldest airfield in Belgium".
On these Historic Days the special "Jules de Laminne Event" will take place, allowing you to experience some of the most unique historic cars and motorcycles – all captured in the fascinating atmosphere of the 1900s to 1960s with many of the participants dressed in the nostalgic garments of those flourishing years. 
These Historic Days will offer visitors a brief escape from our modern and hectic times to submerge them in the pioneering mood of early transportation vehicles with their loud and smoking explosion engines. 

	What is it?
	The Historic Days are going to turn the airfield of Aero-Kiewit into a time tunnel with many different types of historic and modern aircraft and gliders. We'll discover airplanes from the dawning times of aviation up to the buzzing times of today. Also the evolution of the modern ULM (Ultra Lights) will be presented on a dedicated parking space. All this in the nostalgic atmosphere at the Oldest Airfield in the country. The crews of visiting aircraft will receive a free drink and luncheon. The hangars will be housing a wide choice of flight simulators, indoor flying, depiction of various technologies/techniques, etc… Traditionally the Belgian military will be present again and the visitors will be able to witness their historical link with Kiewit Airfield. Furthermore, initiation flights in gliders, ULMs, light aircraft and even balloons will be offered to the public

Thanks to Lucien (http://www.airshowtrips.com), we were at IWM Duxford on 08:00 local time and we can discover the flight line and thehangars before the public was there. This year, the Imperial War Museum put the focus the role of women during WW2 and the reenactment groups recruited a lot of ladies to reflect this policy. Vanaf donderdag 7 juli is er elke donderdag om 21.45h, en dit gedurende 8 weken, de documentaire 'De Luchtpoltie' op VTM. Het gaat hier om de documentaire serie die in het voorjaar op RTBF te zien was maar ditmaal in een 'Vlaamse versie'.

Vandaag maken we kennis met de afdeling luchtsteun van de federale politie van België en hun spectaculaire interventies. In Charleroi helpen ze bij de achtervolging van een winkeldief die met zijn rijgedrag heel wat mensen in gevaar brengt. De man wordt in het nauw gedreven, maar dan loopt het uit de hand. Een motorfiets rijdt door een wegversperring en racet tegen 200 per uur door de bebouwde kom. De grondploegen kunnen niet volgen maar de motorrijder weet niet dat er ook nog een heli boven zijn hoofd hangt. Er komt een oproep binnen van de Cel Vermiste Personen. Een bejaarde vrouw is al 2 dagen zoek en er is twijfel of ze nog levend zal gevonden worden. 

 

 

Hieronder de franse tekst die Emile Ronvaux ons mailde toen deze serie, in het voorjaar, op RTBF werd uitgezonden.

 

Une série documentaire inédite en 6 épisodes et qui nous emmène à Melsbroek et dans les airs pour découvrir l'univers et le travail du service d'appui aérien de la police fédérale. Du jamais vu à la télévision : c'est en effet la première fois que la police fédérale autorise l'utilisation de ses images filmées par hélicoptère.

5 hélicoptères, des pilotes expérimentés, des spécialistes de la reconnaissance aérienne et des techniciens : l'Unité aérienne basée à Melsbroek est sur pied de guerre jour et nuit pour venir en aide aux services de police du pays. Au total, l'Unité rassemble une quarantaine de personnes bilingues: les missions ne connaissent pas les frontières linguistiques. Leur mission principale : la récolte et la transmission d'informations en temps réel, permettant ainsi aux équipes sur le terrain de gagner un temps précieux.

Le film s’attache à présenter une personnalité complexe, depuis sa naissance dans l’Amérique profonde à l’attachement sans limite pour une mère et la sévérité excessive d’un père, député...
Charles Lindbergh est né en même temps que l’aviation, en 1902. Très tôt, il se passionne pour les premiers héros de l’air, comme le Français Louis Blériot qui, le premier, survole la Manche.
Lindbergh grandit dans l’aviation, devient Barnstormer -ravageur de grange- c’est-à-dire l’un de ces pilotes de cirque ou fous volants qui, à bord de drôles de machines, rasent les toits des granges pour épater les paysans du Middle-West. Lindbergh marche sur les ailes, teste les premiers parachutes, devient un Daredavil, un trompe-la-mort.
Il s’engage dans l’aviation militaire pour se perfectionner, puis dans la poste aérienne. Mais la grande aventure de sa vie, c’est le Prix Orteig, une récompense de 25.000 dollars (soit 200.000 euros) remise par un richissime Français émigré aux Etats-Unis, au premier pilote qui sera capable d’effectuer un vol sans escale New York - Paris. Le film raconte l’histoire mouvementée et tragique de cette course qui va coûter la vie à six hommes...
Nous apprenons aussi comment Lindbergh, grâce à la Franc-maçonnerie, a pu financer son avion et comment il s’est envolé pour l’inconnu. Mais personne, à l’époque, n’a filmé cette traversée héroïque, le film propose donc une reconstitution en images de synthèse.
