Luchthaven Brussels Airport heeft tijdens
de maand maart 1,45 miljoen passagiers ontvangen. Dat betekent een
stijging met 1,4 procent tegenover dezelfde maand vorig jaar. De
luchthaven knoopt daarmee voor de eerste keer sinds de maand augustus
vorig jaar opnieuw met een groei aan. De toename was vooral te danken
aan het toerisme, waar een groei met 8 procent werd geregistreerd.
Opgemerkt wordt dat vele Belgen de strenge winter probeerden te
ontvluchten en vakanties boekten naar klassieke topbestemmingen zoals de
Canarische eilanden, Turkije en Marokko. Over het eerste kwartaal van
het jaar diende nog wel een daling met 0,3 procent tot 3,75 miljoen
reizigers gemeld te worden. Bij het vrachtverkeer werd tijdens de maand
maart een daling met 17,4 procent tot 38.314 ton opgetekend. Over het
eerste kwartaal is er sprake van een achteruitgang met 15,3 procent tot
bijna 103.000 ton. De rest van het jaar wordt wel een heropleving
verwacht.
